Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar Anoushka Shankar, a British American singer and musician, is most well-known for her music. She was the first and the first woman to be awarded the British House of Commons Shield she's received 9 Grammy Awards nominations and was the first artist of Indian origin to play live and to act as a host at the award ceremony. Anoushka is the rising star in Indian sitar. She is both the student and daughter of Ravi Shankar. Her childhood was spent bouncing around from London in the UK to New Delhi. At the age of 13, her first show in New Delhi took place. Later the same year, in Encinitas CA she attended high school. She graduated with distinction in 1999. Even though she's very young, Anouskha has an impressive performing and recording record. Her father has been with her in many performances for several years. She released her first solo album Anourag in 1998. Two years later she released the Grammy nominated Live on stage at Carnegie Hall. Because she has performed on many of the biggest stages around across the globe, she's stage career is extensive. Anoushka's career does not only involve musical performances. In 2002 she published an autobiography titled Bapi The of My Life. of My Live this is a pictorial biography which gives a special tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. in 2003 she appeared on Dance Like a Man as a Bharat Natyam artist. Anoushka Shakar's professional career is only going to continue to expand and expand. We are looking at seeing lots of interesting things coming from her. Anoushka Shankar was born and raised in England and spent the majority of her childhood in London and Delhi after which she moved to California where she went to the high school. At the age of 9 she began her studies in the piano with her father. The first time she performed on the Sitar was during her birthday celebrations for her 75th birthday in Delhi, four years after. Anoushka's father toured around the world with her and she gained many experiences. When she was still at her teens, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall during Peter Gabriel's WOMAD music festival. As a tribute to her status as one of the top musicians in Asian Arts, she was given the House of Commons Shield by British Parliament.
